Uplands Mascot named

The idea for a Mascot came about when the the 2017 Mentors noticed that a rival school always had spirit, energy, enthusiasm and pride... all because of their mascot. Ross, the teddy bear in the front office that was always known as the Uplands Mascot as well as Uplands being referred to as an Army was the inspiration for the design. The Mascot was introduced to the College and a very enthusiastic crowd at Prep. The Mascot was well received at his first public event, the Penryn and Uplands Derby. Chairman of the Board Howard Rogerson and Executive Head Gary Sim held an induction session for five new Board members on Saturday, 5 June 2017 at Uplands. Howard and Gary warmly welcomed Andy Dalrymple, Paulina Mokazi, Jon Chantler, Mxolisi Zwane, and Bruce MacFarlane to the Board. The comprehensive induction session covered items ranging from the history, vision, mission and values of Uplands to the draft strategic plan and school policies. Uplands College is proud to announce the winners of the annual scholarship awards, for pupils with exceptional talent entering the College in Grade 8, 2018. A competitive field of 140 aspiring candidates from 38 primary schools, in the Lowveld, Johannesburg, Swaziland, Mozambique and Botswana took part in the scholarship examinations. Exceptional results were achieved, which resulted in the College making five external awards: Ayanda Ntimane from Laerskool Barberton received the All-Rounder Open Scholarship Award.
